PROTECTING BEYOND EN 469,
GIVING YOU THE ADVANTAGE
Porelle® membranes offer both PU and PTFE bicomponent technologies that can be combined with flame retardant fabrics, either in a 2-layer or multi-layer construction, as a moisture barrier for use in firefighter clothing or footwear.
MEETING EN 469 REQUIREMENTS FOR MOISTURE BARRIERS
The EN 469 standard covers the performance requirements for firefighter clothing.
Our membranes are compliant with the demanding requirements for a moisture barrier construction according to the EN 469 standard. Key requirements related to the performance of the membrane include:
-
Resistance to penetration by liquid chemicals – tested in accordance with EN ISO 6530
-
Thermally stable – tested at 180°C
-
Fire resistance – limited flame spread (FR options)
-
Dimensionally stable after wash
-
Waterproof – meeting level 2 requirements
-
Breathable – meeting level 2 requirements for water-vapour resistance (Ret).

BEYOND EN 469 REQUIREMENTS FOR MOISTURE BARRIERS

Porelle® membranes also offer performance attributes beyond EN 469 requirements and can meet other international standards. Additional performance benefits could include:
-
Penetration resistance to a wider range of industrial chemicals, typically encountered in oil, gas and industrial environments

-
Extremely breathable with membrane options that have an Ret rating < 2, offering the option of moisture barriers that can be designed to help significantly reduce the burden of heat stress in the garment design

-
Remains waterproof after repeated laundering cycles, exceeding 10,000 mm when tested in accordance with EN 20811

-
Options that can block particulates with sizes 0.1-100 μm

-
Resistance to viral and blood borne pathogens, tested in accordance with ISO 16604

-
Options that can resist cold flex at temperatures beyond -40°C

-
Membrane options that are light and can stretch, allowing for more flexible and comfortable garment designs.
